TECH TIP Did You Know...

Please make sure that classroom projectors are turned off when not in use. The A/V mute button is an added feature that allows teachers to have a short pause during instruction for discussion or questions. The A/V mute is NOT an option to be used for any extended period of time as the projector is still on and the lamp is still firing. Projectors have a fairly quick on (less than 3 minutes), so they should be turned off during lunch, recess, specialty classes when the room is not in use, etc.

Replacement lamps are expensive supply items, however, lamps will last 3,000-4,000 hours when the projector use is managed properly – that is approximately 3 to 4 years! Leaving the projector on with A/V mute will significantly reduce the life and brightness of your classroom projector lamp.
